If I Were a Pumpkin Poem Winners

Today in class, students read their pumpkin poems. The class voted on the ones they liked the most. Everyone did a great job! Congratulations to the students below who had their poems chosen by the rest of the class.

If I Were a Pumpkin
By: Ethan S.

If I were a pumpkin I would not be any usual pumpkin
I would taste rich, dark chocolate
I would be full of joy and happiness
I would like to play with all my pumpkin friends and family
I'd want it to be Halloween every day
If I were a pumpkin I would be happy every day
I would hide from humans so they don’t carve me and put me on their doorstep
I would wish to be human so I could eat and sleep
I would love to scare people on Halloween
I would listen to kids say “trick-or-treat”
I would have the scariest face ever

If I Were a Pumpkin
By: Chantel

If I were a pumpkin I would have fun all day long
I would taste revolting and gooey
I would be full of green, oozing slime
I would like to have legs and walk away
I'd want a couple of pumpkin friends
If I were a pumpkin I would sing with my pumpkin friends
I would glow like the moon in the night
I would wish to be able to fly
I would love to go and be in the circus
I would listen to the crickets at night
I would have fun being a pumpkin

If I Were a Pumpkin
By: Joel

If I were a pumpkin I would not mind having my scrumptious guts taken out
I would taste like delicious pumpkin pie
I would be full of amazing personality
I would like to fly on a jumbo jet one day
I'd want to be in Mr. Shearim’s class for my whole life
If I were a pumpkin I would be as happy as I could be
I would attract kids and their parents on Halloween
I would wish to be human
I would love to be a famous musician
I would listen to classical music
I would be so happy to be a train conductor
